What makes a source reliable today?

Not all sources are equal.

But in today’s environment, reliability is harder to define than ever.

Information moves fast.
Content is shared instantly.
And visibility often replaces verification.

So what actually makes a source reliable?

  • Reputation built over time?
  • Transparency about origin and intent?
  • Evidence and references provided?
  • Independence from influence?
Or a combination of all of these?

The challenge is changing.
Traditional signals of trust no longer always apply.
New voices can be valuable — but also harder to verify.

At the same time, established sources are not always neutral or complete.

👉 What criteria do you personally use to evaluate a source?

  • What makes you trust something?
  • What makes you question it?
  • Have your standards changed over time?
There is no perfect system —
but sharing how we evaluate information can help build better collective understanding.
